How to Add Page Numbers to a PDF
Page numbers make reports, assignments and scanned files easier to read and refer to. You can add them to any PDF without installing software.
Step by step
- Open Add Page Numbers.
- Upload your PDF.
- Choose the position: bottom left, centre or right.
- Set the first number and the font size.
- Click the button and download your numbered PDF.
Settings that work well
- Position: bottom centre looks clean for most documents.
- Font size: 10 to 12 is easy to read without getting in the way.
- First number: start at 0 if your first page is a cover, so the next page becomes 1.
Do it in the right order
Finish your document first. If you need to combine files, use Merge PDF before you number the pages. If pages are in the wrong order, fix them with Rearrange PDF Pages. Numbering should be the last step.
Check the result
Open the saved file and look at a few pages. Make sure the number does not overlap any text in the bottom margin.
